Area × depth produces volume. The result is converted to cubic yards, increased for waste/compaction, then multiplied by your estimated tons per cubic yard.
How to use it

- Depth. Enter the value in in.
- Waste/compaction allowance. Enter the value in %.
- Estimated tons per cubic yard. Enter the value in tons.
- Request the result. Add your email, then select “Email & show my result.”
What to do with the number
Gravel density varies by stone type, moisture and gradation, so tonnage is an estimate even when the volume is exact. If the supplier quotes a material-specific tons-per-yard figure, use that number instead of the default.
