How this plywood sheet calculator works

Total area is increased for waste and divided by one sheet’s face area. The calculator rounds up to the next whole sheet.

How to use it

  1. Area to cover. Enter the value in sq ft.
  2. Sheet length. Enter the value in ft.
  3. Sheet width. Enter the value in ft.
  4. Waste allowance. Enter the value in %.
  5. Request the result. Add your email, then select “Email & show my result.”

What to do with the number

Real framing layouts can require more sheets than a pure area calculation because edges must land on framing and cutoffs may not be reusable. When sheathing walls, calculate each wall separately if openings and panel orientation vary significantly.

Planning estimate

Use this result as a starting point, not a guarantee. Product specifications, site conditions, manufacturer guidance, local codes, taxes, labor, tolerances, and rounding can change the real requirement or cost.
