How this ceiling tile calculator works

Ceiling area is divided by tile face area and increased by the waste allowance. Tile and carton counts are rounded up.

How to use it

  2. Room width. Enter the value in ft.

  4. Tile width. Enter the value in in.
  5. Grid gap allowance. Enter the value in in.
  6. Waste allowance. Enter the value in %.

What to do with the number

This estimates tiles only; main tees, cross tees, wall angle and hanger wire need a separate grid layout. Rooms that are not multiples of the tile module will create more perimeter cuts, so keep a reasonable waste allowance.
