How this insulation calculator works

The surface area is increased by the waste allowance and divided by the square-foot coverage printed on the insulation package.

How to use it

  1. Area to insulate. Enter the value in sq ft.
  2. Coverage per package. Enter the value in sq ft.
  3. Waste allowance. Enter the value in %.
  4. Request the result. Add your email, then select “Email & show my result.”

What to do with the number

Coverage differs by product thickness, width and R-value, so package labels are the authoritative input. Measure walls, ceilings and floors separately when they will use different insulation products.

Planning estimate

Use this result as a starting point, not a guarantee. Product specifications, site conditions, manufacturer guidance, local codes, taxes, labor, tolerances, and rounding can change the real requirement or cost.
