How this storage unit size calculator works
Required floor area equals item volume ÷ average stackable height ÷ packing efficiency. The result is mapped to a common storage-unit footprint.
How to use it
- Items to store. Enter the value in cu ft.
- Average stackable height. Enter the value in ft.
- Packing efficiency. Enter the value in %.
- Request the result. Add your email, then select “Email & show my result.”
What to do with the number
You need extra space when you want walkways or frequent access to items, so a tightly packed unit can be smaller than an accessible one. If you need an aisle, reduce the packing-efficiency percentage rather than pretending every cubic foot is stackable.
Use this result as a starting point, not a guarantee. Product specifications, site conditions, manufacturer guidance, local codes, taxes, labor, tolerances, and rounding can change the real requirement or cost.
