Space-heater cost uses heater watts ÷ 1,000 × operating hours per day, then multiplies the resulting kWh by the utility rate and the selected time period.

What to do with the number
Most portable resistance heaters draw close to their labeled high-setting wattage while actively heating, but thermostat cycling can reduce average consumption. If the heater cycles on a thermostat, estimate the fraction of each hour it actually heats and reduce the daily run-hours input accordingly.
