What to do with the number
Refrigerators cycle continuously rather than drawing compressor power for 24 straight hours, so an average measured draw or realistic duty cycle is important. A 24-to-48-hour plug-in meter reading captures compressor cycling, defrost cycles and door-use effects better than the nameplate wattage.
