How this appliance electricity cost calculator works
Appliance energy use is rated watts ÷ 1,000 × hours used per day. The calculator scales that daily kWh across the selected month and year, then multiplies by your utility rate.

What to do with the number
Use measured average wattage when possible. Nameplate wattage can overstate or understate actual consumption when an appliance changes power during operation. A plug-in energy meter is the best way to replace the wattage default for ordinary 120-volt plug-in appliances.
