How this mini-split size calculator works
The estimate starts near 20 BTU per square foot for an 8-foot ceiling, adjusts for ceiling height and applies the selected climate/load factor.
How to use it
- Conditioned area. Enter the value in sq ft.
- Ceiling height. Enter the value in ft.
- Cooling load. Enter the value that applies to your situation.
- Request the result. Add your email, then select “Email & show my result.”
What to do with the number
A proper HVAC load calculation accounts for insulation, windows, infiltration, orientation and local design temperatures; this is only a first-pass size range. Oversizing can hurt comfort and humidity control, so do not treat the estimate as a substitute for a Manual J–style load calculation.
Use this result as a starting point, not a guarantee. Product specifications, site conditions, manufacturer guidance, local codes, taxes, labor, tolerances, and rounding can change the real requirement or cost.
