The calculator estimates how many pieces fit across the fabric width, how many rows are needed, then multiplies rows by piece length and adds waste before converting to yards.

What to do with the number
Directional prints, nap and pattern matching can prevent the most efficient layout. Enter usable width after selvages, not the full labeled fabric width, when edge material cannot be used.
