How this commute cost calculator works
Annual commute miles equal round-trip miles × commute days × work weeks. Fuel and maintenance costs are applied to those miles and then converted to monthly and weekly averages.
How to use it
- Round-trip commute. Enter the value in miles.
- Commute days per week. Enter the value in days.
- Work weeks per year. Enter the value in weeks.
- Fuel economy. Enter the value in MPG.
- Fuel price. Enter the value in $/gal.
- Maintenance allowance. Enter the value in $/mile.
- Request the result. Add your email, then select “Email & show my result.”
What to do with the number
Parking, tolls and time value are not included unless you add them mentally to the result. Use actual commute days if you work hybrid; five days per week can materially overstate annual cost.
Use this result as a starting point, not a guarantee. Product specifications, site conditions, manufacturer guidance, local codes, taxes, labor, tolerances, and rounding can change the real requirement or cost.
