How this mpg savings calculator works
Each vehicle’s gallons equal annual miles ÷ MPG. The difference in gallons is multiplied by fuel price to show annual fuel savings.
How to use it
- Annual miles. Enter the value in miles.
- Current vehicle MPG. Enter the value in MPG.
- Comparison vehicle MPG. Enter the value in MPG.
- Fuel price. Enter the value in $/gal.
- Request the result. Add your email, then select “Email & show my result.”
What to do with the number
MPG savings are nonlinear: improving from 15 to 20 MPG saves more fuel than improving from 35 to 40 MPG over the same miles. Use your observed MPG rather than EPA rating when you have reliable trip-computer or fuel-log data.
Use this result as a starting point, not a guarantee. Product specifications, site conditions, manufacturer guidance, local codes, taxes, labor, tolerances, and rounding can change the real requirement or cost.
