Required finished width is rod width × fullness. The calculator estimates how many fabric widths are needed across, multiplies by cut length per width, adds pattern/waste allowance and converts inches to yards.

What to do with the number
Large pattern repeats can require extra length per cut beyond a percentage allowance. If the fabric has a known vertical repeat, add one repeat to each cut or increase the pattern allowance conservatively.
